Promoted to major, he fought on the Finnish front in the winter of 1943/44. On 11th April, 1944, on the occasion of downing an enemy plane for the 113th time, he was awarded the Oak Leaves to  the Knight's Cross. Back on the Eastern Front, on 26th January, 1945, he was awarded the Swords to the Knight's Cross for having downed 210 enemy planes.
His final twelve air victories were with the Me 262 as commander of the IIth Group of Fighter Wing 7. By the end of the war, he had shot down a total of 224 enemy planes (according to some sources 222) in more than 1,000 sorties, this includes 136 on the Eastern Front. With this, he is the 7th  most successful fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe and history overall. Rudorffer himself was shot down 16 times.
