Superb silver print of a portrait of a group of beggars, Algeria.
Very expressive, good condition, no tears, slightly faded shades and contrasts but still lots of detail, note 4 insignificant light folds on the corners as the photo was kept in an album.

Emile Fréchon trained as a journalist and was introduced to photography in the early 1880s. From 1887, he travelled regularly to Algeria. In 1892, he did a report published by Gervais Courtellemont in the Collection de l’Algérie Artistique et Pittoresque. Emile Fréchon was in Biskra in 1897 and moved to rue Berthe in April 1904. It is referenced he stayed there until 1911 and stayed with Alexandre Bougault, one of the most emblematic photographers of the period on Biskra and its surroundings.
