Unique piece in a good state of preservation! it is a bronze sword that belonged to my family for generations;
I made it be analysed to authenticate and give it a precise dating! The laboratory is ADAMANTIO (the one which dealt with the analysis of the Riace bronzes);
the sword is 45 cm long, 0.95 cm thick, 
the blade is 3.3 cm wide at the widest point, and 2.5 cm at its narrowest point, it’s accompanied by a report of 17 pages by the mentioned laboratory that establishes the provenance from Syria and dates it back to the 13th century B.C.

The Hittites are an ancient people who spoke an Indo-European language, and founded a kingdom around the city of Hattusa (the present-day Boğazkale in north-central Turkey). This empire lasted for most of the second millennium B.C.
The Hittite Kingdom, which at its peak included central Anatolia, northwestern Syria, up to Ugarit and Mesopotamia as far as Babylon, existed about between the 1700 and 1200 B.C.. In the time around 1200 B.C. the entire eastern Mediterranean had been in great turmoil. Because many cities went up in flames, this is called the fire catastrophe. In the following Iron Age, the Empire of the Hittites fell apart in several independent city-states, some of which would continue to exist until about the 700 B.C.
