Yue Minjun is een van de meest succesvolle hedendaagse kunstenaars in China. Zijn kunst gaan op internationale veilingen voor miljoenen dollars over de toonbank. De stijl van Yue is onmiskenbaar. Veel van zijn schilderijen zijn variaties op een enkel concept: een zelfportret met een opvallend grote lach. Door zichzelf in verschillende poses te portretteren en te 'vermenigvuldigen' creëert Yue een absurdistisch geheel.
Dit wit kunststof beeld van 64 cm. hoog met een voet van 20 cm. in het vierkant. Beeld is niet gemerkt. Het is een kopie naar zijn beelden die o.a staan als 'de lachende standbeelden'.  Deze begroeten je op de hoek van Denman en Davie Street in downtown Vancouver.
Zijn humor en cynisme zijn echt iets aparts en misstaan in geen enkel interieur.
