"FED-4" - Soviet long-range small-format camera.
Modification of the camera "FED-3".
Produced by the Kharkov Machine-Building Association "FED" from 1964 to 1980
The main difference between the "FED-4" camera and the jointly produced "FED-3" is the presence of the built-in unconjugated selenium exposure meter and the modified (reductor) rewind handle.
The camera had a cast aluminum body with a removable rear wall, both standard cassettes and two-cylinder ones with a wide opening opened were used.
There was a mechanical self-timer. Produced in two main modifications:
with a drumless (drum) platoon of the shutter and rewinding the film.
with a cocked platoon of the shutter and rewinding the film ("FED-4K"). Since 1969 introduced the mechanism of blocking the incomplete shutter cock.
There were several options for external design.
Viewfinder with dioptric correction +/- 2 diopters. The rangefinder base is reduced to 41 mm (in comparison with "FED-2").
Total issued 633096 pcs. In deliveries abroad, the camera was called "Revue-4" (specially for Foto-Quelle).
The inconvenient handle of film rewind caused censure from photographers.
The camera "FED-4" was replaced by cameras "FED-5" and "FED-5C".
