- Ludwig Willem Reymert Wenckebach, (the Hague, 12 January 1860 – Santpoort, 25 June 1937) was a Dutch painter, designed of book bindings and graphic artist. His father was Eduard Wenckebach, one of the founders of Dutch telegraphy. Ludwig has made many pen drawings of old-Amsterdam city views, which were published as etchings by the Amsterdam-based newspaper De Courant/Nieuws van de Dag and were republished many times. He drew and mainly painted along the lines of the Hague school and has been retreated a long time in Heeze on the advice of Vincent van Gogh painting landscapes. He also painted much in the Dutch dunes (for example at Schoorl and on Texel), and further at Wolfheze and in Drenthe. He was friends with Anthon van Rappard, Hendrik Petrus Berlage and Antoon Derkinderen. He remained, however, probably best known by his pen drawings and cover designs for the nine albums and the watercolours for the paste inside contents images of the "Verkade-albums", which he made on his trips together with Jac. P. Thijsse and other painters, such as Jan Voerman Jr. for the album Texel and for the album The Naardermeer.
