Matching maroon half leather with marbled boards. Four raised bands with gilt in compartments. Marbled page edges. Boards rubbed at extremities but both bindings firm. Very, very occasional marks to texts, generally clean and bright with detailed illustrations and descriptions of the marbles, plus appendices and a full index. Attractive and interesting set.

Attractive first edition pair detailing the British Museum's most (controversially) treasured possessions, the Elgin and Phigaleian Marbles.
