Ger van Oers

Medium-sized brass desk clock with a white and golden dial signed by the German manufacturer, MAUTHE. 

Friedrich Mauthe (1822–1884). He established the FRIEDRICH MAUTHE UHRENFABRIK FOUNDATION in 1860 in Schwenningen, near the German Black Forest. It began as a general tool and equipment supplier for watchmakers. In 1876, his sons, Christian and Jacob, joined and overturned the company, beginning to manufacture complete watches (as opposed to the majority of manufacturers in the area that only manufactured movements). This initiative led to great expansion, from 1000 workers at the beginning of the century to 2000 in 1930, and a weekly production of 45.000 watches, amongst which were wall-mounted controllers, desk clocks with different chime systems, desk clocks of the type on offer in this auction, and different types of alarm clocks.

Serviced and oiled 400 calibre movement in working order. If the owner so wishes, the chime can be turned off at any time.
