Very attractive and rare collection a handmade wool Turkmen Beshir Juval rug circa 1850 measuring 170 x 100 cm ( 5.6 x 3.2 ft ). An all over floral interlinked design in deep antique red and brown field each motif decorated with various veg colours. The weave and extremely fine foundation assumes the rug to be one of the finer of the Beshire rugs with very thin but dense weft and wrap. Also design is quite unique as normally they come in more of a Gul or hexagonal designs. This rug has been professionally cleaned and washed and gone through some restoration with couple of repairs and some colouring to bring the texture back to life. I have been buying and selling Turkmen rugs for few years now and I have been particularly drawn to this rug due to its beautiful design and fine weave. Definitely would be considered as a collectable piece despite some restoration. Age wise I think mid to late 19th century if not earlier!
