Christian RUKEZA is a Congolese visual artist from Goma, a city located in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. A passionate autodidact, he develops a unique artistic language through drawing, exploring profound themes related to human experience, emotions and contemporary narratives. His work is distinguished by a minimalist approach, mainly in black and white, using pencil and ink techniques. He seeks to capture the duality of human fragility and resilience while offering the viewer a space for reflection and introspection. Inspired by his environment, his personal experiences and the social dynamics of his region, Christian draws on the cultural richness and complex history of his country to fuel his creativity. His art aims to transcend borders and establish a universal dialogue, where everyone can find themselves in his works. Christian aspires to share his creations on international platforms, highlighting African artistic diversity and the power of visual expression as a tool for connection and transformation.

Since the beginning of my artistic career in 2017 in Goma, I have evolved in various creative environments perfecting my skills in the world of pencil and ink drawing. My journey began in an art house where I acquired the essential basics, before joining the cultural center of Goma, a place where I had the opportunity to participate in workshops and collaborate with other
artists.
In 2023, I broadened my artistic horizon by participating in the Artist's Notebook workshop, and in 2024, I had the chance to be trained under the direction of the artist Fred EBAMI at the French Institute of Burundi (IFB).
These workshops were important springboards to diversify my techniques and explore new dimensions of my artistic practice.
My commitment to the artistic community continues to strengthen through collaborations, exhibitions, and my constant desire to share my unique vision of the world.
