Jewel of French mineralogy, the Auvergne blue fluorite is sought after by collectors from all around the world.
Le Beix mine, near the Herment village, was operated from the end of the XIXth century to 1977 and is the most famous blue fluorite locality in the country.
Shortly after the shut down in 1977-1979, a group of miners extracted several pockets of blue fluorite before these treasures became totally inaccessible: these finds were source for a number of very nice specimens and made this small fluor mine internationally famous.

Here is a highly unusual specimen from Le Beix, from a single pocket, featuring excellent dark blue colour polysynthetic cubes up to 3.4 cm large showing delightful purple zoning!

The specimen develops as a floater, with few contact points only with other crystals from the pocket.

A very nice, very special and unique 'very blue' fluorite from the famous Le Beix mine!
