The Passover haggadot compiled by the various artists make up the most important project of Jewish culture in Israel in the past 100 years.

The fervently Orthodox rabbi Menachem M. Kasher, in his “encyclopedic” Israel Passover Haggadah (Haggadat pesaḥ eretzyisreelit), first published in New York in 1950, viewed the creation of the state of Israel as “the beginning of redemption.” Beyond “Next year in Jerusalem!” he provided a list of “intimations that redemption will occur in our times,” including the Israeli army’s capture of Haifa, Jaffa, and Tiberias. Kasher advocated the addition of a fifth cup of wine to the Passover seder, so as to underscore “the beginning of the current redemption, which we are privileged to look upon in these days as our exiles are brought and flown from all corners of the world to the land of Israel, to reestablish the ancient glories of our people.” He illustrated this fifth cup with a steel engraving by Joseph Guttman of immigrants pouring into the new state, as if in literal fulfillment of God’s biblical promise in Exodus 6:8 (“I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”) Yet the innovation of the fifth cup failed to take hold in Orthodox circles.

Articolo interessante. Avrei desiderato conoscere qualcosa in più sul testo del libro, ad esempio che tipo di preghiere sono riportate. Veramente bello e suggestivo.
