The "Three Friends of Winter" (Matsu, Take, Ume) each hold the following meanings:
Matsu (Pine): Symbolizes permanence and immortality. As an evergreen tree that withstands harsh winters, it represents longevity and prosperity.
Take (Bamboo): Represents growth and flexibility. Bamboo grows quickly and is resilient against strong winds, symbolizing adaptability and abundance.
Ume (Plum): Symbolizes hope and beauty. The plum blossom heralds the arrival of spring and blooms during the cold season, representing the strength to overcome difficulties and new beginnings.
Together, these elements convey wishes for good fortune and prosperity, often used in celebrations and as auspicious symbols.
