Lurczyński, painter, poet, and essayist, was born on 14 December 1908 in St Petersburg to a family of Polish civil servants who had been deported to Russia in 1905. In 1909, the family returned to Warsaw. Lurczyński graduated from the Warsaw School of Political Sciences and then the Academy of Fine Arts. Between 1930 and 1939, his paintings were exhibited in numerous Polish galleries, including the prestigious Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw.
During the occupation, he belonged to the Union for Armed Combat (ZWZ) and then to the Army of the Interior (AK). In 1943, he was arrested by the Gestapo. He was transferred to Buchenwald, where he sank into self-doubt and illness. In early 1945, Lurczyński was transferred to the SS Kommando in Escherhausen, where he became a translator thanks to his language skills. When the camp was evacuated, Lurczyński escaped and fled to Hanover, where he settled after the war. He painted widely in Germany and had solo exhibitions, notably in Braunschweig and Munich. Besides painting, he wrote short stories, poetry and plays. In 1949, he moved to Paris, where he lived and worked until his death.

The dimensions are:
Painting 50 cm x 60 cm x 2 cm.
