Renaissance
-is an English progressive rock band, best known for their 1978 UK Top 10 hit 'Northern Lights' and progressive rock classics such as 'Carpet of the Sun', 'Mother Russia' and 'Ashes Are Burning “ is known. They developed a unique sound by combining a female lead vocal with a fusion of classical, folk, rock and jazz influences.
Characteristic elements of the Renaissance sound are Annie Haslam's wide vocal range, prominent piano accompaniment, orchestral arrangements, vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synths, and eclectic drum work.


Renaissance ‎– Prologue

-is the third studio album by the British progressive rock band Renaissance, released in 1972. It marks a significant shift in the band's lineup and sound, transitioning from the original members of Renaissance to the lineup that would go on to define the band's signature style of symphonic progressive rock with classical, folk, and jazz influences.

Prologue’ is a seminal album in Renaissance's discography and represents a turning point where the band fully embraced the symphonic progressive rock style that would come to characterise their sound.
With intricate, classically influenced compositions and the introduction of Annie Haslam's powerful voice, the album paved the way for Renaissance's success in the mid-1970s. For fans of progressive rock, ‘Prologue’ is an important chapter in the history of one of the genre's most distinctive and artistically ambitious bands.
