This is a hand-painted Satsuma ware Gyokuhou 玉峰 vase.
It depicts a pine tree and a large eagle.
Although the vase is 50 to 100 years old, it is in good condition.
It is a rather plain design for Satsuma ware, but the large bird makes an impact.
It really captures the atmosphere of old Satsuma.

Satsuma-yaki 薩摩焼：
Satsuma-yaki is a type of Japanese pottery, primarily produced in Kagoshima Prefecture. It utilizes region-specific techniques and materials, including the use of local clay and distinctive glazing methods. Glazes such as yellow, blue, and red are employed, with yellow-glazed pieces being particularly renowned. The pottery is characterized by its robust and powerful designs.
