Kozlinsky Vladimir Ivanovich (1891-1967).
Russian and Soviet artist, caricaturist and illustrator, set designer, teacher. Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR (1943). From 1911 to 1917 he studied at the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts. He contributed to the satirical magazines Novy Satirikon, Prozhektor, Buzotyor, Chudak, Ogonyok, and others. He supervised the creation of the Petrograd ROSTA Windows (1920) and participated in decorating Petrograd during revolutionary holidays. He illustrated the works of V. Mayakovsky (in particular, the album Heroes and Victims of the Revolution, 1918), Yu. Olesha, A. Grin, J. Hasek, and V. Hugo. Since the 1930s, he worked mainly as a theater artist. He designed more than 30 performances in Moscow and Leningrad theaters, some in collaboration with M. Knorre. Chief artist of the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater. He taught at the Moscow Higher Professional Art School and was a professor. Personal exhibition in Moscow in 1963. Illustrator of the five-volume edition “Russian Costume 1750-1917” (1960-1972). Author of the book “The Artist and the Theatre” (co-authored with E. P. Frese, published in 1975).
