Rafael Senet (1856-1926) - Bridge of Sighs, Venice

I am offering for auction a superb late 19th century watercolour of The Bridge of Sighs, Venice, by listed artist Raphael Senet, 1856-1926. Signed bottom right. Sorry about reflections on the glass.

The painting measures 36.5 x 21 cm. The frame measures 55 x 40 cm.

Condition of the painting is fairly good. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Some foxing spots. Frame has some light wear. Ready to hang.

Rafael Senet Pérez was a Spanish painter and watercolourist, known for his costumbrista and Orientalist scenes. He also created numerous vedute of Venice.

Rafael Senet Perez studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría, under the tutelage of esteemed artists Joaquín Domínguez Bécquer and Eduardo Cano [es].

In 1880, after a brief period in Madrid, Perez ventured to Rome with the support of local banker Ramón de Ibarra. It was in Rome that he became influenced by the work of José Villegas Cordero. Subsequently, he travelled Italy, dedicating an extended period to capturing the essence of Venice in his art.
