You are bidding on a First scarce US PRESS of Big Brother and the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin!), in near mint condition (!):

- A 1967 (!) original FIRST US PRESS (57 years young) of the legendary first self titled album of Janis Joplin’s Big Brother and The Holding Company, released on Mainstream Records S/6099 (Terre Haute Pressing), with typical chrome-blue & black Mainstream labels, in heavy quality thick cardboard cover material and with heavy vinyl pressing, only available in the States! The info ‘8-16-1967’ is hand etched in the dead wax. This album is the first step of Janis Joplin to worldwide fame and succes! Cover: Excellent- ! - Vinyl: Near Mint ! Waw!

The in 1966 fairly unknown band Big Brother and the Holding Company had their first success at the Monterey Pop festival. Joplin signed a contract with the small local record label Mainstream Records, after their promotor ran out of money. Their debut album was recorded in only three days. The front cover artwork was designed by Jack Lonshein, while the back cover design was by Dennis Nolan. The band was at first dissatisfied in the album’s sound, with the guitars sounding ‘too clean’. The track ‘Down on me’ became a hit only after their release of the second album ‘Cheap thrills’.

It’s is a rare find to buy an extremely early Janis Joplin in this amazing condition! This is an album every true classic rock vinyl-lover wants. A fantastic collector’s item! Waw! Don’t miss out!
