Rare Japanese traditional hand carved wooden Noh mask - Ikazuchi/Kaminari雷 with excellent workmanship and quality, made in Heisei.6 - 1994. there are wear off of paints due to aging and using.
This mask was made for the "Raiden" (thunderbolt), a tale of Sugawara no Michizane, who was demoted to Dazaifu in Kyushu by Fujiwara no Tokihira, and died with a grudge, becoming a thunderbolt and striking the Imperial Palace (Seiryoden). It is also used for the "Kamo" (Kamo) and other rites.
Dimensions: 22 x 17.5 x 10 cm
Good condition: there are stains and wear off of paints due to aging and using, please also take a look at the listed photos for a reference.
