Karl Ens, Volkstedt - Ιστορικά μοναδικό αριστούργημα "Reclining Pierrot" (38,5/23 cm) - 1900 - Prototype/Pattern/"Muster" - Πορσελάνη

One of a kind Art Deco Muster porcelain sculpture of a happy “Reclining Pierrot”, fabulous Karl Ens creation made by the Porcelain Factory in Volkstedt, in excellent condition.

The mark is date back to 1899 - 1919, but, extremely important is that “MUSTER” means Prototype/Pattern. Most probably, it was produced in 1894 by Eduard and Karl Ens and was used like a Pattern by their employees (based on Wikiwand).

“Around 1855, porcelain painting played an important role as a line of business in Lauscha. [1] Friedrich Karl Ens employed up to 150 people at that time. The porcelain manufactory in Volkstedt, now trading as Triebner, Ens & Co, owed a noticeable artistic improvement to its products to his sons, the modeller Eduard Ens and the porcelain painter and later company owner Karl Ens. Around 1894 they created the first top figures and such a specialty of the house, in 1899 they founded the Karl Ens porcelain factory in Volkstedt and incorporated their father's company.” Wikiwand.

The lovely Pierrot is lying down on one elbow, graciously holding hands together, with the legs crossed, dressed in specific costume in unique choice of colors with white frill, golden buttons and white hat, cute hight heels shoes.

The sculpture is in excellent condition, marked with green “ENS” mark of the period (1900 - 1919), old style shoe reattached, MUSTER inscribed, beautifully sculpted and glazed, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
