At auction is a large and heavy bronze*) horse sculpture from Burkina Faso with concentric circle design.
These types of sculptures are often created by the Bobo Tribe, known for their intricate metalwork.
Concentric circles are an beautiful example of their craft-man-ship and symbolize continuity and connection to the spiritual world and are a notable feature in their art and cultural artifacts.
*) this bronze statue is made using the lost wax method, also known as "cire perdue".
Dimensions in cm: 33.5 x 22.5 x 5.0 - weight 2050 grams.
The hors has a variety of brown colors and some have a metallic sheen or golden hue.
The real color of the horse is very dark brown and looks sometimes even black !
Condition: good - some signs of wear and age related patina.
