From the early Meiji period comes this exquisitely hand-carved wooden figure of Shōjō Biku, one of the Eight Great Child Attendants of Fudō Myō-ō in Buddhist lore, also known as Shōjō Dōji. Cloaked in a monk's attire, the figure is meticulously detailed, with its right hand gripping a partially missing vajra, symbolizing spiritual power, and its left hand holding a sutra scroll, representing wisdom.

Although there is no inscription, it can be assumed that it was made by Kaihatsu Touemon because the construction characteristics are the same, especially when compared to the Buddha statue with inscriptions. The statue exhibits signs of aging, with notable dust accumulation, lacquer peeling, cracks, and potential insect damage to the base, which may result in wood powder leakage.

Prospective buyers should note that the condition is as visibly captured in the photographs, and there is a possibility that surface peeling may worsen during shipment, with the chance of parts detaching. Understanding and acceptance of this pre-existing condition is requested prior to purchase.
It can be inferred that there is a high probability of surface peeling occurring.

Thank you so much to Yorozuya Arinsu. I'm very happy with this ukiyo-e. It has been delivered carefully in short time. This sheet from 'Coming of age ceremony' is pretty nice. Many thanks.
