A fine miniature of Kashmiri origin copied from the Dewan written by Mohammed Shama od-din Hafez (1329-1399), and in very good condition. Written on burnished paper, it is scribed in elegant nasta'liq in black ink by a fine hand, and having beautiful floral borders and dividing columns accentuated with gold. Each of the 12 lines of scripture (divided by a floral column, are pillowed in gold clouds. Both folios have multiple lined framing.

The Dewan, which expresses Sufi ideals in lyrics, was written by Mohammed Shama od-din Hafez (1329-1399), a Sufi Muslim who practised a mystical form of Islam. His name 'Hafez' was given to those Muslims who could recite the Holy Koran by heart.

One of the items arived broken but seller offered me a discount without me asking for it. Nor provide evidence of the broken item. Trustworthy seller.

The art piece came damaged unfortunately. The glass from the front was broken. I recommend the seller to send it with Fan Courier or other high quality postal services. However, I really like it.

I am so sorry. However, I am pleased you like the work.

Was very satisfied until I found out that the manuscripts are held to the mount by adhesive tape impossible to remove without damaging the manuscripts. Who the hell puts tape on old manuscripts?!

We do show the mounting in the photographs that are provided for the auction. The tape we use is acid-free mounting tape and placed on the outer margins of the manuscripts on the reverse side.

Arrived very well packaged and padded. Go easy perhaps on the protective tape over the glass. It's the wrong type of tape. I can't remove it to see the painting !! But thanks all the same Rob

Glad it arrived safely but disappointed the tape is proving difficult to remove. I hadn't realised we had taped the glass. Will you be able to resolve?
