L'annata 2018 è senza dubbio un'ottima annata per il vigneto di Bordeaux. Dopo una primavera fresca e umida, una magnifica estate caratterizzata da giornate di sole e temperature elevate ha permesso alle viti di svilupparsi bene, facendo presagire una bella vendemmia futura. Al momento della raccolta a Château Lafite Rothschild, gli acini hanno presentato un'eccellente qualità enologica.
L'annata 2018 è anche la 150esima vendemmia per i Domaines Baron de Rothschild.
Assemblaggio dell'annata 2018: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8,5% Merlot, 0,5% Petit Verdot.
Il colore è scuro e profondo, quasi nero, ornato da riflessi violacei.
Al naso offre precisione e intensità, segnate da belle note di frutti neri, ciliegia e violetta, seguite da tartufo, cedro del Libano e spezie pepate.
L'attacco è soave, lasciando spazio a un corpo carnoso e denso che accarezza il palato con un tocco delicato. I sapori di bacche rosse si fondono armoniosamente con le note balsamiche, e si eleva in un crescendo di potenza grazie a tannini finissimi. Sboccia in un finale nobile, lungo e fresco. Una grande annata per Lafite Rothschild.
