This silver denier was minted during the reign of Bohemond III, Prince of Antioch (1163–1201). Bohemond, a prominent Crusader prince, was both a contemporary and occasional adversary of Levon I of Armenia. He fought against Saladin and allied with the Byzantine Empire. The Principality of Antioch, founded after the First Crusade, existed from 1098 until its fall to the Mamluks in 1268.

Obverse: Helmeted bust of a knight facing left, wearing chain mail. A cross appears on the helmet, with a crescent on the left and a star on the right, all enclosed within a pearl circle. Inscribed legend: +BOANVNDVS.
Reverse: A cross within a pearl circle, with a crescent in the second quadrant. Surrounding legend: +ANTIOCHA annulet.
