1973 Delbana divers watch - Birth Year Watches HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH? The movement in this watch was produced between 1969 and 1976, so we chose a midpoint. Delbana was founded in 1948. This is a good looking diver’s watch from a brand that most people wouldn’t know about. However, the components that make up the watch can easily be found in many more established and expensive watches. The case is made of stainless steel and the movement is made by ETA. The signed crown screws down to increase water resistance, as does the case back. The case back also says SKIN DIVER, a very early use of the term, and still has remnants of the original case back protector. This could be cleaned off, but it shows that the watch hasn’t been used much and we’d encourage people to keep it as part of the watch’s history. The bezel moves bi-directionally and doesn’t make a ticking noise. The dial has a clean and original egg timer pattern that catches the light beautifully.
