Mark Haisma was born in Australia. His mother is French and his father is Dutch. He once worked with the late famous Australian brewer Dr. Bailey Carrodus in Yarra Yering, where Mark Haisma served as a brewer for 10 years until he left Yarra Yering in 2009 and moved to Burgundy, created his own micro-wine merchant brand. Mark Haisma first rented a space to make wine in Pierre Naigeon's cellar. In 2016, he created a wine cellar in Gilly-lès-Citeaux, and his neighbors included Laurent Ponsot and Dominique Laurent.
