Höfner - Hofner Ambassador (President Brunette, type 4579) - - E-Gitarre - Deutschland - 1966
Nr. 91683517
Collector's item: only 500 pieces were produced! The Höfner Ambassador was produced between 1965 - 1967. It was a good looking guitar, well made, strong guitar, but unfortunately not very successful in those days! The thin line 2-depth body, pointed cutaways, a new stronger neck-to-body fixing, rotary controls and a pick-up selection switch made this an attractive guitar with a definite solid feel. It was Höfner attempt at the Gibson 'Barney Kessel" model.
The only option available was to have DeArmond pickups fitted instead of the regular Höfner hum buckers. The production stopped at only 500 pieces, so nowadays these guitars are very hard to find. Also mentioned in the Höfner-books (f.i.: page 208).
