Giulio Camber Barni - La Buffa, poesie scritte in trincea - 1969

This poetic collection by Giulio Camber Barni represents an important testimony to the events experienced by Italian soldiers during WW1. Originally jotted down in military notebooks these poems were subsequently typed up and sent to the editorial staff of the republican weekly "L'Emancipazione". The serialisation of the poems, published in twelve instalments from 6 October 1920 to 1 January 1921, opened a window onto the reality of the front for a wide audience, offering a direct and unsweetened vision of the war.
