A beautifully crafted Art Deco palissander and satinwood ballot box or voting box, measuring circa 21.5cm in height and weighing 1631g, of pentagonal baluster form with tiered base and top. The shape of the box and the required angles and measurements are incredibly difficult to make by hand and bear testament to the skilled craftsmanship of Danish woodworkers. No nails or screws have been used, only wood-wood joins. Brass lock to the underside, no key present.
Provenance: Anecdotally by the previous owner said to have belonged to the Danish Trade Union of Cabinetmakers and Joiners (Snedkerforbundet i Danmark, SF) active from 1885-1969.
Condition: Overall very good, no significant damages or repairs. A few minor scratches and bumps, minor wear commensurate with age.
This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
