Suzuki - No.226 - - Mandoline - Japan - 1970

Item Description: This is a vintage mandolin manufactured by the renowned Suzuki Violin Co. in Nagoya, Japan, in 1970, model number 226. The instrument has been well-preserved and remains in good condition, with no noticeable scratches or dents on its body. The mandolin features a beautifully crafted bowl-back design with a natural wood finish and intricate soundhole decoration, characteristic of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The tuning pegs and frets are intact, though the strings show signs of age—one of the thinner strings broke after photographing, and some of the other strings exhibit light rust. The mandolin comes with six spare strings for replacement and one pick, ensuring that it’s ready to play with just a quick setup. This mandolin includes a hard case for protection. While the case itself is in functional condition, some of the metal hardware has rusted over time, a common sign of vintage cases. A small handwritten label indicates how to open the case lock. Despite the aging of the hardware, the case provides secure storage and adds to the mandolin’s vintage appeal.
