Viennese art deco Aventurine glass vase in emerald green glass vase with silver overlay decoration. It was made in 1910 - 1920. It is made of aventurine glass in excellent condition, with a silver appliqué decoration that models the geometric shapes typical of the Art Deco era. The lower and upper edges and the middle part are decorated with a silver contour. It is a great example of the vivid color that is popular and used by the art deco style as a base color and the combined use of metallic elements like gold - silver - bronze. The special feature of the glass vase is the extremely effective silver-colored, shiny aventurine pattern that decorates its surface. In the aventurine technique, metal plates are embedded in the glass while it is in a molten state. The glass is slowly cooled and then blown into the desired shape. The sparkle from the metal particles embedded in the glass gives it a special appearance. Because the design cannot be effectively controlled, artisans called the technique "aventurine," meaning "accidental." Mint condition, blown and hand molded. There is one hairline crack caused by tension on top. A finely crafted, proportionally divided work of art. Special, rare color and shape, exceptional quality from a private collection.
