Daisuke Yokota
Art Beat Publishers/2014/Japanese/345 x 257 mm

Corpus (Signed) is a collection of photographs by Japanese photographer Daisuke Yokota. Starting with the Grand Prix (2010) at the open call ‘Photo 1_WALL Exhibition’, which is a gateway to success for young photographers, he has received numerous international awards, including the ‘Unseen Photo Fair’ (2013), the ‘Photo London / John Kobal Residency Award’ (2015) and the ‘Paul Huf Award’ (2016). Daisuke Yokota has received numerous awards abroad, including the ‘Unseen Photo Fair’ (2013), ‘Photo London / John Kobal Residency Award’ (2015) and ‘Paul Huf Award’ (2016), and has attracted attention both in Japan and abroad. Together with photographers Koji Kitagawa and Naohiro Udagawa, he formed ‘Spew’ and is also involved in a wide range of activities including zine production and musical performances. This book is Yokota's first collection of nude works. Not only the unique form-compositions of the nude bodies intertwined, such as the ‘Otoko to Onna’ by post-war Japanese photography master Eikoh Hosoe, but also the ‘noise’ created by the tricked-out lenses and prints, creating a ‘dark worldview’ and stirring up various imaginations. Signed by the photographer.
