Ferdinand Marohn (act. 1839-1865) - A country girl

I am offering for auction a delightful mid 19th century watercolour of a girl waiting by a gate, holding a bunch of flowers. Painted by listed artist Ferdinand Marohn, who was active between 1839-1865. Signed bottom right. A beautiful painting to grace any wall. The painting measures 26.5 x 20 cm. The frame measures 46 x 39 cm. Condition of the painting is excellent. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Ferdinand Maron was a portrait, genre, and landscape painter born around 1810 in Gransee, Germany. He participated in the Berlin Academy Exhibitions from 1839 to 1843 and moved to Paris in 1846, where he supplied the Salon until 1859. One of his notable works is a portrait of Polish noblewoman Zofia Branicka (Countess Zofia Potocka), which is in the National Museum in Warsaw. His style is characterized by expressive and characterizing work. His death year is not available, but he was active until at least 1865. Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide insurance for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit. Therefore the frame and any glass is a gift to you with zero value and you are bidding on the artwork only. Due to Brexit, there are delays at EU customs borders though the situation is improving. Please do not blame me for delays or any customs duty payable. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Steve.
