Two traditional kokeshi dolls, handcrafted as part of Japan's rich folk art tradition, are presented here.

These are kokeshi of the Yajiro lineage and are the work of the second generation “Tetsuen.
They have become valuable collectibles for Japanese folk art enthusiasts.
Kokeshi dolls are often given as symbols of friendship and loyalty, and this piece in particular, with its beautiful black and natural wood tones, stands out for its traditional yet contemporary feel.

Artist Profile:
Tetsuen Yashiro was a craftsman who produced and sold new kokeshi dolls in Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture, before World War II.
Tetsuen II was Tetsuen Yashiro's sister-in-law and inherited the style of Tetsuen I.
The intricate designs and fine woodwork of this talented craftsman reflect the craftsmanship and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
