A fine Chinese globular Batavian porcelain teapot with milk-and-blood decor. China, mid 18th century, Qianlong (1736-1795) period. Finely painted in iron-red, brown and gilt with peony in leaf-shaped cartouches reserved on the chocolate-brown plain glaze. Additionally dome-shaped cover with repeated décor.

Reference: very similar teapot was sold in Christie’s Amsterdam, 19 Oct. 1999 (last picture).

Dimensions: height with cover – c. 13 cm; height without cover – 9,1 cm; diameter – c. 11 cm; length (with spout and ear) – c. 19 cm. Diameter of the cover – 8,1 cm. Weight with cover - 359 g, without – 372 g.

Conditions report: teapot with a small chip to the end of the spout only. Added cover with restoration to the edge. Both - minor firing faults and wear to the painted décor in places. Check pictures for details.
