Obverse: Helmeted bust of a knight with chain mail facing left, cross on helmet, half moon on the left in the field, star on the right.
Entirely in pearl circle around legend: +BOANVNDVS.
Rev: Cross in pearl circle, crescent in second quadrant, surrounding legend: + ANTIOCHA annulet.
Reference: Metcalf 377-391.

Provenance: From a private Danish collection, established in the 1980s.

Bohemond was a contemporary and sometime adversary of Levon I of Armenia. Bohemond was an enemy of Saladin and an ally of the Byzantine Empire.
The Crusader States were founded after the First Crusade. They each had their own coinage. The state of Antioch existed from 1098 to 1268, when it was captured by the Mamluks.
