Nr. 88778357
9 illuminated pages of poetic script on paper, in some cases heightened with gold, from a copy of Nizami's ISKANDERNAMA copied by Sadiq Bat son of Rajiq Bat, and dated 21 Rajab 1234 (1819 AD). The Iskandernama is the account, developed from the Greek poem, of the life and deeds of Alexander the Great as written by the C12th poet Nizami Ganjavi, (Nizami Ganje'i, Nizami, or Nezāmi) - formal name Jamal ad-Dīn Abū Muḥammad Ilyās ibn-Yūsuf ibn-Zakkī and copied by many scholars in the years after. The Iskandernama is the fourth part of the Khamsa of Nizami, a posthumous collection of five of Nizami's major works. It consists of two main and independent parts: the Sharaf-nama (Book of Glory) followed by the Iqbal-nama (Book of Fortune) (though the names are reversed in some copies). Both are written in rhymed couplets.
The leafs are all in good condition (minor repairs to the margins) with vibrant colours and clear details on burnished paper.
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.

Lovely 19th century manuscript miniature that arrived early, and nicely mounted with a bibliographical note. A very fine seller that I return to bid and buy from often. Thank you.
Übersetzung ansehenItem as described. Quick dispatch. Good communication. Couldn't be any happier. (Have to pay taxes and customs now - but that was clearly stated, foreseeable and not the sellers fault. Damned Brexit!)
Übersetzung ansehenThanks so much for this feedback. Yes - damned Brexit. All the fault of in-fighting in the UK Govt and a mistaken belief that a vote would make it all go away! It has caused small business and private individuals a good deal of unnecessary trouble.
