Barbers chair, chest of drawers and a mirror - Art Deco - Friseurstuhl (3) -

Beautiful oak wooden Amsterdam School / art deco chair and interior from the 1920s, 1930s. The lot comprises one reclining barbers chair, a chest of drawers and a mirror. Although not marked the chair could possibly be made by F L Vollemans and sons from Rotterdam ( i have seen the same models). Accompanying the chair is a chest of drawers unit with set above a large loose bevelled edged mirror in art deco style. The chest of drawers are in a fair state and i would suggest a repaint or upholster. False wood paper seems to have been attached to the sides, now missing in some areas. The surface of the chest of drawers is covered by a drop in marble top, which is heavy! This is covered by a small old rug, traditonally Dutch i believe. In one drawer are two, i assume original electric shavers from the period - the SPUD electric clipper. These were produced by KOOY EN ZONEN in Utrecht. This clipper makes the characteristic click sound apparently when switched on? I have not tested them! Measurements: Chest of drawer:112cm length, 51cm width, 82cm high. Mirror: 108cm at widest point, 96cm high, 1.5cm thick. Chair: seat height 47cm, back height 92 cm, width 60cm. The original owner showed me a picture of his grandad using the chair, chest and mirror in a barbers shop in Hollum, Ameland, one of the Dutch villages on a Friesian Island. The large heavy oak chair is in good condition for age. Please see pictures for descriptions. Lovely patina. I have put fair condition but please see the photos to make your own mind up. Somewhere between good and fair i think is reasonable. Pick up please ....buyer responsible for all aspects of pick up.
