This beautifully crafted coffee table from the Showa period combines wood and bamboo to create a classic circular design. The tabletop features a Mokkō in circle family crest, rendered in the traditional Japanese maki-e technique.

The Mokkō in circle crest is a traditional Japanese family emblem. The design symbolizes prosperity and the continuation of family lineage. This particular crest has been used by several notable historical figures, including the famous samurai warlord Oda Nobunaga. The round shape enclosing the "mokkō" (a stylized depiction of a cucumber flower) is associated with strength and protection, making it a popular choice among samurai families.

Maki-e is a traditional Japanese decorative technique where gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to produce intricate designs.

The table shows signs of wear, including scuffs, scratches, fading, and stains, and have some wobbling. Please refer to the photos for its condition.
