A single folio page containing the scripture of the Meccan Chapter 39, Az-Zumar (The Successive Groups) v.73-75, which talk of the reward of the righteous and praising God's grace and justice. It also contains the illuminated Chapter heading (Surah) and v1 of the succeeding Chapter 40, Ghafir (The Forgiver). The folio is from a 16th Century Qur'an from the Ottoman Empire, probably Turkey.
The folio consists of 9 lines of continuous text in black nasta'liq and a single illuminated 'Juz' marginal indicating the 75th of the Chapter. The Surah is in great condition, with vibrant gold nd beautiful arabesque patterns within a blue framing. The Chapter heading in White Thuluth script is very clear. The scripture is framed with two full gold frame lines and a red and outer blue. The condition is very good for its age.
There are multiple 'aya' marking the verses within the scripture and diacritical (devotional markings) in red to provide guidance to the devotee.
