岡田半江 Okada Hanko (1782-1846) Late Edo period Nanga painter. Son of 岡田米山人 Okada Beisanjin (1744-1820). Born in Osaka. He studied painting under his father and, like his father, served in the Osaka warehouse of the Tsu domain. Later moved to Kyoto, where he lived a life of painting and calligraphy. Interacted with writers and artists such as 頼山陽 Rai Sanyo (1781-1832) and 田能村竹田 Tanomura Chikuden (1777-1835). Unlike his father, his painting style is characterized by its beauty and delicacy, and many of his works have a gentle and ample atmosphere. He excelled in Sansui landscape painting.
