A charming wooden kô'dansu 小箪笥 (small cabinet of drawers). Fully cleaned and waxed.
Crafted from precious 'Keyaki' wood (Zelkova - Japanese oak), the drawer faces are coated in a glossy black lacquer 蝋色漆 (rôiro’urushi). It is designed with three small drawers and a hinged door. The door is adorned with a delicate sensu 扇子 (folding fan) motif floating on water, showcasing a white Japanese apricot 梅 (ume) and pine tree saplings 松 (matsu). The drawers are fitted with elegant ‘mokkô’-shaped bail handles with chrysanthemum-shaped escutcheon, and the door features a pull-ring.
Period: Japan – Shôwa period (1926-1989).
Dimensions:
Height 32.3 cm, Width 59.2 cm, Depth 27.1 cm.
In a very good condition with minimal traces conform age and normal use. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
