Beautiful ancient Chinese turquoise bead talisman made in the 1st millennium BC during the reign times of Han and Western Zhou dynasty. It depicts a cat in sitting position with precisely carved details and holes for suspension. Talisman has undergone a professional cleaning process to highlight the beautiful natural blue-green color of the gemstone at the same time, without removing all the originally preserved earth sediments and signs of patina on its surface.

Artifact was exhibited in Southeast Asian Gold Museum (in Budapest, Hungary) for 6 months in 2013 with other ancient bead talismans from the collection of former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat, researcher and well known collector Dr. István Zelnik.

In traditional Chinese culture cats represented wealth, purity, scholarship, balance and harmony. Talismans with their images were worn for luck, good health, as well as protection against evil spirits in everyday life.
