H25cm Vintage "Cherry Blossoms" Kokeshi , signed by Kuribayashi Issetsu 栗林一雪(b1924) - Wood - Japan - Shōwa period (1926-1989) This kokeshi is a rare piece crafted by Kuribayashi Issetsu 栗林一雪 (b1924). Born in 1924 in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, Takamizawa Kazuwo began creating creative kokeshi around 1955. In 1970, his representative work of modern kokeshi, titled "Mugen," was displayed at the Japanese government pavilion during the Expo '70. In 1976, he served as a judge for the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition, and in 1979, some of his works were preserved at the Nuremberg Toy Museum. In 1996, he received the Yonezawa City Merit Award. Notable Awards: In 1977, at the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition, he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Encouragement Award for his work "Chigo." In various years at the All Japan Kokeshi Contest, he received the Prime Minister's Award twice, among numerous other awards. Dimensions: 25 × 7 × 7 cm Weight: 370 g With cushion Good condition.
