Excellent creative bronze vase made by Keiten Takahashi高橋敬典(1920-2009) Living National Treasure.
Artist name - 敬典 was signed on the bottom of the vase.

1938: Took over his family business, Yamasho Foundry.
1950: Apprenticed under Nagano Tetsushi.
1951: First selected for the Nitten Exhibition for his "Wazukehiramaru Kama with Earthen Pattern and Waterweed". and has been selected seven times since then. His elegant works, with their innovative shapes and ingenious use of the surface and patterns, have been highly praised and he has won numerous awards, and in 1961 he created kettles to present to Emperor Showa and in 1979 to the Crown Prince. In 1992 he was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Fourth Class.
In 1996 he became the first Yamagata resident to be recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Property and Living National Treasure (tea ceremony kettles).
From the 1950s, when Yamagata casting was hardly known at all, he held exhibitions in Tokyo and other places, and, along with his excellent works, he made the culture of Yamagata casting known throughout the country.
He passed away on June 23, 2009, at the age of 89.
With signed and sealed tomobako.
