Polen - Preis - Silver Medal "Honored on the Field of Glory" - 1944

Only 35.741 Awarded!!! The Medal "To Those Merited on the Field of Glory" (Medal Zasłużonym na Polu Chwały) was established by the order of the Supreme Command of the 1st Polish Corps in the USSR on November 6, 1943 and approved by the decree of the Polish Committee of National Liberation on December 22, 1944. The award had three classes: gold, silver and bronze, as a medal for courage, valor and heroism in combat in particularly difficult conditions requiring self-sacrifice. The medal's regulations were modeled on Soviet awards and described in detail the actions and the degree of the award for which a soldier received it. So, to receive a gold award, it was necessary to: destroy two enemy aircraft in combat; put a captured enemy aircraft into operation and participate in combat; destroy three enemy tanks or three guns in combat; kill at least 100 enemies with a sniper rifle; evacuate at least 50 wounded during combat. A silver medal was awarded for direct assistance in performing actions necessary to receive a gold medal, so if in a pair of fighters the leader received a gold medal, then the wingman was almost guaranteed to receive a silver one. The bronze medal was awarded for an exemplary execution of an order and the accomplishment of a combat mission, showing persistence, initiative and courage, which serves as an example for others. The medal can be awarded repeatedly, up to four times, but the medal is not issued, and instead the recipient receives a bar for the award ribbon and a document confirming the repeated award. The medal is also intended to be awarded to foreign citizens who contributed to the victories of the Polish Army. A total of 38 people were awarded the gold medal, 35,741 people were awarded the silver medal, and 75,699 people were awarded the bronze medal Excellent condition!
