Info:
Giuseppe Torelli was born in Verona but worked most of his life in Bologna and he contributed to the development of the concerto grosso but also other baroque repertoire for strings. Torelli was one of the teachers of Francesco Onofrio Manfredini, a composer of Vivaldi's generation who, however, –and like so many others– is overshadowed by Vivaldi in our time. Four collections of Manfredini’s music were printed, but today he is almost exclusively known for his set of twelve concerti grossi, printed as his Op. 3. The 7 inch vinyl Philips UK releases of Manfredini by I Musici - Roberto Michelucci appear to have become collectors items.
