Wonderful mushroom-shaped of Green Smithsonite

Green smithsonite is a mineral that belongs to the carbonate group. It is named after James Smithson, the founding donor of the Smithsonian Institution. Smithsonite occurs in a wide range of colors, including green, and is prized for its vibrant and translucent appearance.

Green smithsonite is typically found as botryoidal or stalactitic formations, often with a banded or concentric growth pattern. It has a hardness of 4 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, which makes it relatively soft compared to other gemstones. Its luster is vitreous to pearly, and its transparency can range from transparent to translucent.

The green color of smithsonite is usually caused by the presence of trace amounts of copper. The intensity of the green hue can vary, ranging from pale green to a more intense, saturated green. Other colors, such as blue, yellow, and pink, can also occur in smithsonite due to different impurities.
